    • Great luxury and value

I am very pleased with this vehicle overall (2016 MKX Reserve with 3.7L engine), the luxury features are tremendous and a great value. The leather seats are top quality. Sync3 may not be as graphically pretty as the competition, but it works really well. I feel that there are some trim elements (A-pillar snap on trim that detached, for example) that are somewhat flimsy and there is a rattle emanating from the center console (this is why I gave a quality rating of 8). The engine is adequate -- fine on the highway with sufficient passing power, however, it is slow accelerating from stop or low speed -- a V6 should be zippier. Overall, to me, this beats the competition for luxury and value; and I am happy to have the V6 than a turbo-4 for such a heavy vehicle.
    • 70000 miles and so far so good

It’s my wife’s car and she drives a lot for business. The pick up and delivery service for maintenance was very efficient and nice and the phone app works great. It’s only had 1 thing (some sort of $400 filler valve) that didn’t affect the drivability that wasn’t covered under warranty. It also had an engine oil leak, that the dealer found, that was covered under warranty. We ordered a loaded Reserve with the 2.7 engine, AWD, the better seats, and all the technology packages. It is very smooth and powerful and my wife loves the Synch 3 which does about everything including traffic, rerouting her, stopping at places along the route, etc. She also loves the auto high beams which are very smart. I like the Apple Play and that it takes regular gas. It does the job and gets her around quietly with lots of features. It’s on the second set of tires. The factory ones go 50000 miles. If if starts going wonky (steering, chimes, etc) check the battery. It did that to us, but all it needed was a new battery. A little early to go in my book, but an easy fix. They haven’t changed it since 2016 although they renamed it. Get the 2016 1/2 or newer. The Synch 3 is really worth it. Many of the other manufacturers have been playing catch-up. We looked at most all the other luxury SUVs - Acura, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, Buick, Infinity, and Volvo and liked the Lincoln best, especially for the $. The Germans - Audi, BMW and Mercedes were especially overpriced and maintenance and repairs are astronomical.
    • Im surprised how much I like my MKX

The 2017 MKX Reserve was the first American Branded car Ive purchased in over 10 years. Over the years, I have regularly owned vehicles from Acura, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes and BMW. BMW and Audi were my favorite vehicles from a driving perspective, but from an SUV perspective, I believed the 2007-2013 Acura MDX was the best overall SUV for me because it offered nice amenities, good tech, good performance, plenty of room and comfort. All the other offerings were either too soft or too rough to drive. I needed a new SUV, so I took 3 months to shop and (over)analyze the available models. I dislike the look of recent MDXs so I looked at all the luxury SUVs out there. I like the X5, but there is so little room in it for carrying stuff and 2nd row entry/exit was also not very comfortable because you practically had to hop over the hump from the wheel well. A friend of mine bought a Ford Edge and I was very impressed with the ride, quietness, etc., but not thrilled with the hard plastics throughout the interior. I looked at the MKX and was given a vehicle to test drive overnight. I was very surprised that it had a bit of a luxury feel to it. Maybe not to the extent of an Audi or Benz, but close enough. It also had great performance with the EcoBoost 2.7 Twin Turbo engine. I really liked the way Lincoln did the center console and how it gently curved up to the infotainment cluster. It has the typical Lincoln push-button transmission on the left side of the NAV screen. Im not thrilled with that and would prefer a shifter on the console, but I more prefer all the storage that the lack of a shifter gives you in the MKX. Ive now owned it for a year, and Im still thrilled with the vehicle, as Ive had no quality or reliability issues. I truly believe I made the best choice amongst 2-row SUVs. The only other one I like the looks of is the Jaguar F-PACE, but coming from the spacious Acura MKX to the slightly cramped interior of the Jag wasnt an option for me. The MKX with the Reserve package and a couple other options has the perfect mix of performance, comfort, quietness, technology (Sync 3, not Sync 2), audio system quality, and styling in the 40K-60K price range. I can even ask Alexa to start my car from my kitchen. Nice! There are a few things I dont like in it: -I find the seat bottom is too short and doesnt support my thighs like my Acuras and BMWs have over the years. -Although I like the reserved design, Id like it to be slightly less reserved. -I dont like my friends telling me that Lincolns are old-guy cars, but their tune changes once the ride in or drive it. -I continually get about 18MPG, but you could do better if you dont drive like me. Here is why I knocked out other brands from my selection: -Lexus - anything from them - the steering was too soft and felt detatched from the road. Also their goofy front end just didnt do it for me. -BMW - X3 and X5 are both great cars. I just needed a bit more room for the money. -Mercedes - Way too overpriced as always (I own an SL500) and reliability and repair costs are brutal, according to my friends who own their SUVs. -Audi - Q5 was too small for my family. Q7 was bigger than I needed. Love their interiors and the way they drive. -Acura - I have owned several MDXs, TLs, a Legend Coupe, and an NSX. They are great, reliable cars. I just strongly dislike the way the MDX looks and the RDX is too small and tinny. Also, Acura does not offer valet service that picks up your car for service and leaves you w/ a Free loaner. -Cadillac XTS - to small and overpriced. No performance. If you are in the market for a 2-row SUV and want some luxury but also good performance, take a Lincoln MKX for a test drive, especially the one with the 2.7 Turbo engine. You might be as surprised as I was. Cheers!
